OUT-PATIENT DEPARTMENT (OPD)

Public Out-Patient Department

The OPD provides services to members of the public with a range of medical and surgical conditions. This includes:

- a diabetes clinic (every Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday);

- an eye clinic (Monday - Friday); and

- a TB Clinic (Monday – Friday).

The majority of patients seen in the OPD are suffering from opportunistic infections such as TB, respiratory infections and skin conditions. Some of the HIV-diagnosed patients come on referral from the VCT clinic operating at the hospital, while others come from Manzini regional clinics. Many come as a last resort, having consulted with traditional healers, and are dangerously ill.

Private Out-Patient Department

There is also a private OPD for patients who can afford to pay a higher fee. There is a booking system for this service. Refer to Private Services for more information.
